Thomas Williamson VIEW PROFILE

Thomas Williamson

Thomas Wyatt Williamson was born June 21, 1927 in Willow Spring, Texas. He was a graduate of Coldspring High School in 1944, and entered Sam Houston State Teachers College the same year. He was drafted into military service in 1945, and served as Bugler-First Class for the Navy on the USS Iowa.  In 1958 Mr. Williamson began teaching at El Campo High School. He was considered the most influential individual determining the direction of music in the El Campo community. Even after sixteen years, his influence and legacy is apparent in the El Campo and Refugio communities (and it is probably safe to include the state as well). Thomas Wyatt Williamson died June 18, 1977 and was laid to rest in the Mount Zion Cemetery in San Jacinto County Texas.

I always enjoyed Mr. Williamson`s class. He was not your typical teacher, he was more of a friend . I did not know until later his music back ground and how blessed we were to have him . The only regret I have is not staying in touch with him after graduation , but we all went our separate ways and lost touch. I know it is too late now, but I want to say thank you Mr. Williamson and may you rest in peace.
